We have the best ministry staff in the world. All have walked the road of brokenness and have found the True Christ along the way. Our team brings a variety of giftings and ministry experience into each area of ministry, whether in a retreat setting or one-on-one counseling sessions. Each member of our staff is responsible for raising 100% of their ministry salary. Dr. Dave & Norma Gentry
Dave was a Pastor for 8 years, and carries a Doctor of Biblical Counseling from Trinity Seminary. Norma holds a BA in English, Angelo State University.
The Gentry's founded Westwood Ministries in 1989. Dave is Executive Director and Counselor. Norma is Director of Hospitality & Office Manager.
Jim & Kathy have been associated with Westwood Ministries in one way or another since Westwood moved to Kerrville. They have owned/managed local businesses and served in various ministry positions with their church and Westwood. Jim has been an Advisory Board member, a Board of Directors member, Interim Director and President of our Board of Directors. Kathy currently serves on Westwood's Advisory Board and manages the finances for Westwood Ministries.
Mark & Jenny met while attending Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX. Mark holds a B.A. in Christian Studies and Religious Education. He's served in a variety of ministry capacities as Minister of Students/Youth, Associate Pastor as well as in Outdoor & Adventure Education. He currently serves as Director of The Potter's Institute and as a counselor with Westwood. He has been on staff with Westwood since September 2008. Jenny holds a B.S. in Physchology and Interdisciplinary Counseling. She currently serves with Westwood as Coordinator of Soul Pursuit, the student discipleship piece of The Potters Institute and works with counseling clients. She has been on staff with Westwood since October 2002.
Bill is an avid gun range visitor, served in the Marine Corps for several years and has extensive security experience. He has 33 years of ministry experience in various areas. He is a certified counseling instructor and chaplaincy instructor. He serves as a volunteer chaplain in a state prison and served as a chaplain with Bell County's Sheriff's Department. He has also served as pastor in several small churches. He holds a B.A in Religion from Mary-Hardin Baylor, a Th.M. and Doctor of Biblical Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He also holds a PhD. in Faith-Based Counseling. Bill is married to his wife Katherine who home schools their four youngest children. Besides teaching Katherine enjoys reading, swimming and studying Spanish. She has a B.S. in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling from Denver Seminary. Both Bill and Katherine have recently joined us as staff this year of 2011.
Micah is married to Jennifer Abshier and has a BBS in Communications from Hardin-Simmons University. He is a preacher's kid with sales experience and has served with Westwood in various ways. Micah currently is transitioning to Batesville Casket Company, but he is still serving on the Board of Directors, any questions you have concerning Financial Donations, fundraising or scholarships can be directed to Dave Gentry or Norma Gentry in the Ministry Office. Micah has served on staff with Westwood since July 2006.
Tim is married to his wife Kathy and live Kerrville. Tim recently retired from State Parks work after 30 years of service and currently serves Coordinator for the Christian Outdoor Adventures of the Potters Institute. Tim and Kathy enjoy the outdoors and love seeing God work in their life and the lives of others through that medium.
Sandy is married to Buddy Smith. She currently serves with Westwood as Coordinator for Basic Potters Encounters and is a member of the Westwood Board of Directors. Sandy also serves with counseling clients of Westwood and is currently pursuing a Biblical Counseling degree. Sandy has been on staff with Westwood since June 2000.
Sharon taught in public schools for 30 years and has a M.A. in Art Education. She has been involved with Westwood Ministries since it was founded in 1989. She currently serves with Westwood as a Ministry Associate, receptionist and office assistant. She has been on staff with Westwood since June 2005.
Josie was born and raised in Belize, Central America and has 30 years of work experience as an Administrative Assisstant and Business Manager. She currently serves with Westwood as Ministry Office Assistant and in the area of mentoring & counseling. Josie also works as a member of our Ministry Team during Westwood Events. Josie has been on staff with Westwood since October 2008.
Bill was born and raised in San Angelo, TX. He first was connected with Westwood Ministries as a volunteer and donor and now in retirement he serves on staff as coordinator for Maintenance & Grounds. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Westwood. Bill has served with Westwood since its beginning in 1989.
Craig and his wife Joan have served with Westwood since it moved to Kerrville, TX. They have served in a variety of roles and now are on staff with Hospitality and Client Care. Both Craig & Joan use their gifts and passion for cooking in various settings and retreats for Westwood Ministries. Craig and Joan have been with Westwood since 1995.
