HEART TO HEART
By Dave Gentry
Season's Greetings from the staff families
of Westwood Ministries. My prayer for you this Christmas season is
for you and your loved ones to be secure in the Lord whatever your holiday
circumstances. God cares about our circumstances and he cares for us
and our individual needs.
Recently our staff enjoyed our fall staff
retreat in Hunt, Texas at Camp Sequoia. During our experience we
studied Luke 5:1-11. In this passage Jesus is on the shore of the
Sea of Galilee and he is being pressed on all sides by people waiting to
hear him preach. He calls Simon to let him preach from his boat and
they cast off a little way from shore. After he is through
preaching, he instructs Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down
the nests for a catch." Simon obeys and hauls in such a large
number of fish that he and his crew had to signal to their partners to
come and help them. They brought in so many fish that their boats
began to sink. The catch (harvest, fruit) was so blessed that they
had to have help! What an account!
Our staff feels like Simon and his crew.
The Lord has blessed with such a bountiful response to this ministry that
we are 'calling to partners' to join us. We know that both
your life and ours will be blessed abundantly as we bring in the sweet
fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Our mission is to provide 'rest and
restoration' for God's servant leaders. The need is massive!
The response has been overwhelming. I pray that our partners will be
blessed until their 'boat overflows'. I pray that new partners will
join in this vital ministry. We need each of you to 'take hold of
the net with us' through prayer support and financial giving. In so
doing, we will 'thwart the evil one' and strengthen the Christian leaders
of our day!
Have a wonderful Christmas!
