HEART TO HEART

By Dave Gentry

July 13, 2006

 Dear Friends,

Greetings from your partners at Westwood Ministries. I pray that this update finds you well and investing daily in “being” who God has designed for you to be and “doing” Kingdom ministry that God “prepared in advance for you to do.” How tragic that often we reverse these two endeavors and spend our time doing so that we can feel good about being. Doing will never elevate man to being good. It can make him feel better about himself, but it has nothing to do with relationship with God or what evangelicals call salvation. Doing must flow out of being and only with God’s directive. Scripture states that, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)  Works must be a product of being in Christ Jesus; otherwise, works are empty and are only substitutions of “activity for adoration.”

I pray that you will join me in the pursuit of a life of adoration. Adoration of God is the lifestyle of the believer who is an overcomer. God desires that we live as overcomers in His kingdom on earth. This life of being and serving is indeed our spiritual act of worship. (Romans 12:1)

Thanks for investing your service as a partner with us as we minister to God’s hurting servant leaders. Your investment in this team truly makes a difference in the kingdom of God on earth. Thanks.

This past week we closed on the sale of our retreat property. We are thankful to God that He moved so quickly in this step of the transition. We are grateful to the new owners, David and Kathie Watterson, for their generous gesture of allowing Westwood guests to use the Lamb’s Inn for the next six months while we are seeking our new retreat location.

Also, our staff will be able to stay in their houses on campus for the next six months enabling our transition to be as smooth as possible.

Our interim offices are located at 213 “C” Street in Kerrville and our new phone number is 830-895-3082. Our toll free number is the same, 1-800-583-9841, as are our emails and our mailing address, P. O. Box 291446, Kerrville, Texas 78029.

Please continue to pray with us as we seek our new location in the Hill Country. We are looking for 200 + acres in a somewhat secluded area so that our guests are protected from noise and activity. Join me in prayer and fasting these next weeks as we seek God’s leadership and guidance. We will keep you posted as we walk through this process. I am excited to discover what God has in store for us.
