HEART TO HEART
By Dave Gentry
Greetings to the Westwood Family. It seems
like along time since our last quarterly newsletters this past spring. Much
has taken place since that edition of The Westwood Papers. I count it a
privilege to take the opportunity to update you in these quarterly
newsletters. Much has taken place since that edition of The Westwood
Papers. I count it a privilege to take the opportunity to update you
in these quarterly newsletters. During our Spring Ball this past May,
we enjoyed a great evening. About 340 people attended and over $25,000
was given to start the effort to purchase the 198 acres to the west of our
campus. It was a fun evening with meal, entertainment, silent auction
and live auction to finish the evening. We had Westwood partners from
all over the country and some missionaries from outside the country.
We just came through our 15th annual
Crucible retreat the last weekend of June.
Westwood Ministries is
celebrating our 15th Anniversary of ministry in the Lord, this year!
What a praise that God has allowed us this
privilege. I can't think of a better way to celebrate than to experience
staying 90% plus occupancy with our Retreat Facilities day by day and in
effect having to implement a waiting list for our counseling ministries.
God is truly blessing. Along with this, He has placed on our plate the
acquisition of the property next door so that he can heal and restore even
more of his servant leaders now and in the years to come!
Along with growth comes changes always. New
staff have joined the Westwood Team. Rick and Patty Crick have joined us as
ministry associates in Communication and Financial Development. Dan and
Brenda Carney have joined us as interns in Counseling and Ministry Office
Support. Heather Martin is our summer intern in ministry support and Soul
Pursuit activities. All are a great blessing. We are sad but excited for
Blake and Beth McKenzie and their family as they are moving on to a new
ministry. They will be staying in the Hill country and Blake will be
traveling as he ministers to churches and leaders. Pray for them during
this transition. We bless them in this new ministry endeavor.
I invite you to join me over these next
three months in a time of
prayer and fasting. Two needs
are
crucial to God's ministry of Westwood:
· Financial
and Prayer Warriors to supply the resources necessary to maintain an
affordable
ministry to Christian
leaders and their families
•
Gideon
Warriors to give generously as God directs by October 4th so that the land
can be taken
You can read more about each of these needs
and our time of prayer and fasting in the body of the newsletter.
I praise God for you and your partnership.
May God Bless you Richly,

Dave Gentry, Founding
Director
